Swanton Junior High boys win championship

The Swanton Junior High boys track and field team won the NWOAL title on Saturday at Patrick Henry. They took first with 99 points, followed by Archbold who placed second with 96.

Swanton’s Trent Weigel won the boys pole vault competition Saturday at the NWOAL junior high track meet. He cleared a personal best 9 feet to take home the title.

HAMLER – Swanton finished with high marks at the NWOAL Junior High Track and Field Championships held Saturday at Patrick Henry. Their boys finished three points ahead of Archbold for first place, while their girls took second to Liberty Center.

The Bulldog boys were led by Trent Weigel who won the pole vault competition. He cleared 9 feet in fewer attempts to beat out Caleb Ranzau of Archbold.

Swanton also got a first place finish out of their 4×400 relay team of Jarod Hensel, Blake Szalapski, Ian Saunders and Josh Vance. They won the event with a time of 4:01.82.

In the girls meet, Swanton’s Jasmin Kenzie took first in the high jump after clearing 4 feet, 8 inches. Kyiah Harris of Evergreen was second at 4 feet, 6 inches.

The Bulldogs’ girls 4×400 team of Brooke Dockery, Macy Pawlowicz, Averie Lutz and Kailey Brownfield won with a time of 4:35.11.
